After one 2-hour session, most beginners have a solid grasp of the basics and can get through a full game with support. Mastering the rules and strategy comes with ADDITIONAL lessons and Regular play — but the first session is always the most fun.

Our Boston instructors are experienced American Mahjong teachers who have guided hundreds of beginners and private groups across Boston.
Arielle Kassinove
Austin, TX native and University of Kansas grad who teaches kindergarten. A college friend taught her to play one weekend, and she was hooked instantly. She loves watching it all click for people and bringing them together around her favorite game. Free time means reading, needlepointing, movies, and new restaurants.
Caroline Rhodes
Hamilton College grad who works in sales for a health tech company. She learned to play from her college roommates, and loves the excitement of teaching beginners the moment it clicks for them. Outside of mahjong: yoga and spending time outdoors.
Lauren Shea
From College Station, TX, a Texas A&M grad who works as a recruiter at a big law firm. A college friend taught her how to play, and she loves getting to introduce something she loves to other people.
